Cottontails Childcare
Who We Are
Cottontails opened in 2006 as a small family childcare. After having my own children, I realized how important it was for every child to have a loving, nurturing, ‘home away from home’ environment to go to each day. We watched children learn and grow through the simplicity of social interactions and explorative play. In 2014 Cottontails grew from a family childcare of 6 to a group home childcare of 12 children daily. We were excited to be able to care for even more children. In 2021, we saw the intense need for more quality childcare in our city. This is when Cottontails took the leap to pursue opening our brand new, state of the art childcare center. Our main focus will always be the same as it was when we opened in 2006- to provide children with a loving, nurturing environment every day.

Our Curriculum

Cottontails uses a curriculum that aligns with Connecticut’s Early Learning Development Standards (CT-ELDS). CT-ELDS are statements of what children from birth to age five should know and be able to do able to do across the earliest years of development.
CT-ELDS
CT-ELDS serve as the foundation for supporting learning progression for every child. Teachers can use these standards to create high-quality learning experiences and provide individual support based on each child’s growth and development.
Standards
CT-ELDS are broken down into the following standards: cognitive development, social/emotional development, physical development, language, creative arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.
Enriched Development
Our Programs
Cottontails Childcare and Learning Center provides enriched development programs for ages 6 weeks to 5 years.
Communication
Parent Engagement
Communication is a valuable asset between a childcare provider and parent, therefore our center uses Parent Engagement, which allows parents to see children’s daily schedules. Teachers will send pictures and updates, along with reminders through the app.
